WHY AN APP?
USER ONBOARDING.
VAYU aims to capture the global market with its nondescript, unique and stylish physical design.
To pay justice to that, an informational portal guiding newer audiences to the world of herb inhalants is necessary to create a seamless onboarding to a new technology
1: App x Device Connection
Connecting your device for the first time, second time, third time and any time after that.
2: Home
What’s your VAYU like? How do you use it? How would you like to use it?
3: Personality Test
Don’t know where to start the VAYU Journey? Bored of one singular scent profile? Not what you’re looking for?
4: Subscription Model
Ensure you have VAYU for life without lifting a finger, all from an easy-to-use app
The Sign In Page for VAYU operates differently in that it requires the user to have the device in hand in order to automatically authenticate their device and prompts them to create an account.
If signed out, however, the user can sign back in using their credentials on a dedicated login page.
01: App x Device Connection
First Connection & Sign In
In order to create a personable experience, this connection screen takes inspiration from Apple’s unique pairing experience with its devices, using NFC to prompt its appearance upon close interaction with an unpaired partner device.
The color is determined based on the color of the device that the user bought.
The unique colors extend into the sign-up and login screen as it creates a unique experience for each customer and their style preferences.
02: Homepage
How do YOU use your device?
Once logged in, the user can see the diagnostics of their device at a quick glance, also allowing for quick reordering of flavors they already know and love.
It also promotes users to also explore more scents as they come out, perhaps finding more favorites along the way
The scent profile page shows a unique makeup of scents by user as analyzed by their buying history (also shown below). The makeup is made of the unique olfactory adjectives that describe each scent
The scent analysis page accurately describes to users of any experience level of what each scent smells like, be it through commonly used olfactory adjectives or descriptive flavor texts. Anyone can accurately visualize their scent and decide accordingly if they want to try it.
03: Scent Profile Test
Self Guided Discovery System
This self-guided scent discovery system uses a two choice quiz-based front end for users to interact with and indicate their preferences. This quiz is further connected to each scent via identifiers, allowing for specific combinations of recommendations to be made based on closeness to preferences.
If the user chooses a specific note in the quiz, a lifetime tally will be kept in the back end in order to keep track of the user’s preferences and will be used to refine the scent recommendations in the future.
Once a choice is made, the associated color gradient will briefly envelop the screen, indicating confirmation
This is a sample of design iterations I have completed regarding the correlation of olfactory adjectives and associated color gradients.
The mix of gradients in the middle shows the uncertainty of choice, while also still being clearly indicative of which side is which.
Once the quiz is complete, 3 recommendations will be offered based off the results. If the results don’t match your taste, the quiz can be retaken with the previous quiz results being deleted. If there is a specific scent you want, the order can be customized. Or the user can buy the combo as it is
